Researchers have been doing a lot of studying on cigarette smoking. There have been many findings that were released to the public through the years. They dwell on different subjects like why it is addictive, what people are getting out of it, and the substances that are found in it. One topic that many focus on is the gas-phase radicals in cigarette smoke.

Many theories and studies were made based on this subject which usually aims to uncover the different things that it does to a person. This has become widely discusses subject because of the fact that more and more people are now into the habit of smoking and because it has been linked to a lot of diseases.

Free radicals are said to be harmful to the body because it is carcinogenic or cancer causing. It has been one of the major causes of certain cancers especially those that are are developing in the respiratory tract. Research shows that its ability to do damage to ones DNA is one reason why cancers like lung or tongue cancer are one of the consequences that a smoker might be facing.

It can also do damage to a person's tissues, muscles, and other body organs. It can give rise to many fatal respiratory diseases and can also exacerbate any existing condition that one may have. Cardiovascular diseases are also linked to this one.

There are also studies that would claim that these gases and smoking in general also can affect someone in a positive way. However, experts would still warn people not to use this as an excuse to do more smoking because solid evidence has not been established.

The rate of people whose cause of death are related to their continuous usage of cigarette and tobacco is significantly increasing. The number is enough to tell people that whether or not one can get good things out of it, the risks will always outweigh the benefit.
