Working Out, Losing Weight, Getting Fit

By George Griffin

Losing weight: it's an endless goal for most people. You may be the skinniest student in class when you were in your youth. You may even be slim in your twenties. But by the time you reach your thirties, things have started to change. You metabolism rate has slowed down and you started to notice a little flab here and there.

While fats and weight are in your body, it's not a entirely physical matter. You also need to mentally win this game. You can't finish this race to fitness if you are also not prepared mentally.

For some, losing weight is a vicious cycle. You gain this excess pounds that you want to lose. You start to diet and exercise, but every time you see yourself with the added weight you become depress, thus leading you to eat some more and gain pounds. It's a sad, sad and very brutal cycle, indeed.

Perhaps you're one of those who have tested every diet and workout plan out there. You may even have swallowed different reducing pills and miracle products available in the market. But no matter what you do, your fat still won't budge. And you wonder what you are doing wrong.

It may be a lack of discipline or a lack of consistency on your part, but whatever it is, it should be fixed soon because the longer you have the weight on, the harder you become depress with your lack of development. Try changing your routine if it's boredom that's killing your drive to work it out. Or if motivation is the problem, give yourself a reward each time you accomplish something, like a treat to the movies on a weekday after a severe jog across the town for an hour. That should help you look forward to completing your exercise routine every day.

If you still can't lose the pounds, how about giving yourself your own stimulus plan? Instead of rewarding yourself after every time you lose weight, maybe giving yourself an incentive before you even start sweating out will work.

As mentioned, losing weight is a brutal cycle that involves both body and mind. So if you merely keep getting more depressed each time you step into the weighing scale, give yourself a leaner body even before you start your workout plan.

Why don't you enroll into a fitness program that helps you lose weight faster or even ask a doctor to drain off your fat if you want to. Then you can start exercising. The logic behind this is that you need to prepare your mind first before you venture on a strenuous routine. Seeing yourself in a skinnier shape gives you an idea that losing weight is really possible, thus, giving you an optimistic attitude. It is an motivator that you would have to continue, and would be happy to do so seeing the result already.

A word of advice, though. This type of incentive plan shouldn't be misused. You are giving yourself a stimulus package to put a stop to the cruel cycle you may be in and begin a healthier phase. Don't depend on it every time you gain an extra weight. It will defeat your entire purpose of losing weight to stay healthy.
