Going on holiday with pets

By Simon Trefoils

Going away on holiday with your family and friends is always fun, but often it would be even more fun if we were able to take "man's best friend" with us. Most people just assume that dogs aren't welcome when they go on holiday because it is so often the case so most of us have to spend money housing our pets while we go away. Kett Cottages is different though, they have cottages where pets are just as welcome as people to come and have a holiday.

It's one of the biggest differences between taking a holiday at a hotel or resort where pets are strictly forbidden, and taking a holiday in a cosy self-catering cottage in Norfolk, where pets are welcomed in many cottages. In addition, if you did find a hotel or resort willing to admit a pet, and it was overseas, your pet might be affected by the journey.

This is particularly concerning with the noise levels of an airplane affecting the very sensitive hearing of an animal which can't hide from the noise. The holiday cottages offer you the freedom to decide whether you prefer to have a holiday with all the members of your family.

There are a range of different Kett holiday cottages that are pet-friendly so you can still find the perfect cottage for your holiday. There are cottages that are situated so that you can take a stroll with your family and the dog to a local farmer's market. Otherwise there are coastal cottages so you can walk down to the beach with your pet and have a run along the sand or through the Frisbee.

Next time you're planning a holiday, think about whether you'd rather take a simple walk in the field or whether you'd prefer to play with your dog, playing fetch or just walking them. People love their pets, but often they can forget exactly how much joy that pet provides, even in the simplest of situations. It's also very reassuring to know that your pet can come with you, instead of worrying about whether they are being well looked after, whether by the neighbour, a kennel or a cattery.
